Atmos Rewards Is Back With a 100,000-Point Bonus 🎉

Atmos Rewards (Alaska Airlines) just brought back its 100,000-point bonus offer — and this one is worth paying attention to.

I usually steer my clients toward flexible point programs like Capital One, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Amex. But after jumping on this offer last year, I can confirm that Atmos Rewards holds its own when it comes to flexibility — especially for families.

Why Atmos Points Are More Flexible Than You'd Think ✈️

Alaska Airlines partners with 13 alliance members, including some heavy hitters:

  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Aer Lingus
  • Qatar Airways
  • Singapore Airlines
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Fiji Airways
  • Finnair
  • Iberia
  • Japan Airlines
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • Royal Jordanian
  • Sri Lankan Airlines

That's a lot of booking options. To put it to the test, I ran a few searches:

  • San Francisco → Sydney, Australia — multiple options on Fiji Airways and American Airlines ✅
  • New York → Madrid, Spain — solid choices on Iberia and American Airlines ✅

  • Seattle → Tokyo — non stop even business class bookable on Hawaiian Airlines  ✅

Could you sometimes find a better deal booking directly, say on Iberia using Avios? Possibly. But Atmos points shine when you need options fast. A client of mine needed a last-minute flight to Austin — cash prices were brutal, but we found a redemption for just 12,500 Atmos points. That's the kind of win that makes keeping a points stash worthwhile. 🙌

The Two Card Offers Right Now 💳

Summit Card — 100,000-point bonus

  • Spend $6,500 in the first 3 months
  • $395 annual fee
  • Perks: 50% flight discount code, 8 lounge passes, and a 25,000-point global companion award

Ascent Card — 80,000-point bonus

  • Spend $4,000 in 4 months
  • $95 annual fee
  • Perks: 50% flight discount code, $99 companion fare, and one free checked bag for you and up to 6 guests

Both are genuinely strong offers. Whether you go big with the Summit or keep it lean with the Ascent, having a healthy Atmos points balance gives you real booking power when you need it most. 🗺️

How to Squeeze Maximum Value Out of 75,000 Capital One Venture Points

How to Squeeze Maximum Value Out of 75,000 Capital One Venture Points 🧳

The Capital One Venture card's welcome offer ends April 13th — that's 75,000 points + a $250 travel credit for a $95 annual fee, worth at least $1,000 in travel. 🤑

But here's the thing — $1,000 is really just the floor. Let's talk about how to do even better.

Two Ways to Use Your Capital One Points

1. 🖥️ Book Through the Capital One Travel Portal

Simple and solid. Your 75,000 points are worth a straight $750 toward flights, hotels, rental cars and more. Great if you want zero fuss.

2. 🔄 Transfer to Airlines & Hotels (This Is Where It Gets Fun)

This is where your points can really take off. Capital One transfers to dozens of loyalty programs, most at a 1:1 ratio:

✈️ Airlines🏨 Hotels
Japan AirlinesALL - Accor Live Limitless
Flying Blue (Air France & KLM)Choice Hotels
AeromexicoPreferred Hotels
Air Canada AeroplanWyndham
Cathay
Avianca
British Airways
Emirates
Etihad
Eva Air
Finnair
JetBlue
Qantas
Qatar
Singapore KrisFlyer
TAP Miles&Go
Turkish Miles&Smiles
Virgin Atlantic

💡 Pro tip: Keep an eye out for bonus transfer promotions — Japan Airlines has one running right now!

Real-World Sweet Spots Worth Knowing About 🍬

✈️
Turkish Miles&Smiles

Book a business class flight from Los Angeles to Athens for just 165,000 points — a ticket that'd otherwise run you $3,500 cash. Yes, really.

🌷 Flying Blue (Air France & KLM) — My Personal Favorite

Flying Blue drops monthly promotions that are hard to beat. Right now you can snag a one-way economy flight from Los Angeles to Amsterdam for just 18,750 points — a ticket worth $750. That's an incredible return on your points.

🏖️ Wyndham — A Sleeper Hit

Wyndham is a newer Capital One transfer partner and it's already delivering. I recently transferred points for two nights at an all-inclusive in Cancun (for a destination wedding, no less 💍). The rooms were going for $450/night cash — I paid 60,000 points. That's the kind of win that makes points nerds do a happy dance. 🕺

The Bottom Line

These are just a handful of ways to stretch 75,000 Capital One points and $250 travel credit well beyond that $1,000 baseline. The right transfer partner for the right trip can dramatically multiply your value.

But you've got to move — this offer ends April 13th. ⏰ Ready to apply? Use our referral link and let's get you traveling! 🙌

You Have the Points—So Why Are You Still Paying Cash for Flights? ✈️

Both new clients I met with this past week had a serious stash of points and miles—and were still planning to pay cash for their next flights. 🤔✈️

The first client had 800,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points sitting in their account… and had just purchased a flight to the East Coast. When I asked why, she said she was saving them for a “big trip someday.”

Family trip to Finland to see the Northern Lights

The second client? 2 million Amex points. Yes, really—two million. And they were about to pay cash for round-trip flights to Europe.

And here’s the kicker: both are still actively earning points every month.

This isn’t unusual. I’ve seen it over and over:

So what’s going on? Why do smart, points-savvy people collect all these miles… and then not use them?

I asked ChatGPT, and the answer lines up exactly with what I see in real life:

1. Mental accounting
Points feel like a “special” currency—too valuable to touch. Cash feels easier to part with. If you have a steady paycheck, paying $500 for a flight doesn't seem like as much as paying 50,000 points even though it's the same value.

2. Loss aversion
It took effort to earn those points, so spending them feels like losing something.

3. Endowment effect
Once you have a big balance, it starts to feel like something to protect. People hold out for a “perfect” redemption that rarely happens.

4. Optimization paralysis
Transfer partners, award charts, dynamic pricing…it can get complicated fast. When people aren’t sure they’re getting the best value, they freeze—and default to cash.

5. Future fantasy vs. present reality
Points get saved for a dream trip someday, while real trips—family visits, college tours, quick getaways—get paid in cash.

Here’s the reality:
Points and miles don’t get more valuable over time. They quietly lose value. Meanwhile, your travel life is happening now.

Once we talked it through, each of these clients made a shift:

  • 800,000 points → used 100,000 for a round-trip flight to Europe ✈️
  • 100,000 points → used 40,000 for a round trip California trip 🌴
  • 225,000 points → used 40,000 for a round trip West Coast flight 🌊
  • 2 million points → used 492,000 for two round trip business class flights to Europe 💺✨

Did they use their points well? Yes. The round trip business class flights to Europe priced out at $14,000.
Do they still have plenty left? Also yes. That same client has 1.5 million Amex points left.
Are they still earning more? Absolutely.

Over the water bungalow in Moorea paid with points

And maybe most importantly—they’re actually enjoying the benefits of what they’ve earned.

If you’re sitting on a pile of points and thinking about paying cash for your next flight, let’s take a look before you book. A quick consult can save you thousands of points—or help you finally use them with confidence.

How to make sure you get the Southwest seat you want

How to make sure you get a seat and overhead bin space

With Southwest’s new seating structure rolling out, getting an assigned seat—and space for your carry-on—takes a little planning. Here’s how to stack the odds in your favor 👇

1️⃣ Hold a Southwest credit card

Southwest credit cards now come with different seating perks, so it’s worth choosing the one that fits how (and how often) you fly.

  • Plus – Select a standard seat within 48 hours of departure
    Annual fee: $99

  • Priority – Select a standard or preferred seat within 48 hours of departure
    Annual fee: $149

  • Premier – Select a preferred seat at booking
    Annual fee: $229

  • Business Premier – Select a standard or preferred seat within 48 hours of departure
    Annual fee: $149

  • Business Performance – Complimentary preferred seat at booking
    Annual fee: $299

💳 Current offers:

2️⃣ Book with points and choose the right fare

If you’re booking with points (as you should 😄), your fare class determines what kind of seat you’ll get.

  • Basic – Standard seat assigned at check-in

  • Choice – Standard seat included

  • Choice Preferred – Preferred seat included

  • Choice Extra – Extra-legroom seat included 🦵✨

The higher the fare, the earlier your seat is locked in—and the better your chances of snagging overhead bin space.

Saying goodbye to Southwest boarding positions

3️⃣ Use A-List status if you have it

A-List status still matters, especially for seat upgrades.

  • A-List – Can move to extra-legroom seats within 48 hours of departure

  • A-List Preferred – Can choose extra-legroom seats at booking

🎒 Bonus perks:

Right now, passengers in extra-legroom seats are also getting extra snacks and complimentary premium drinks 🍹🍿

One last thing about carry-ons

We’re hearing consistent reports that overhead bin space is tight. Hopefully this smooths out as the new system settles, but until then, earlier seat selection and boarding are your best defense.

One More Chance To Earn The Southwest Companion Pass!

If that 120,000 Southwest bonus offer for a $10,000 minimum spend was a bit too hefty for you, now you have another chance!

Southwest just launched 85,000 bonus offer for just $3,000 minimum spend on all three of their personal credit cards. Depending on which benefits you want, the annual fee will range from $99 to $229.

  • 2x points on groceries or restaurants or gas stations
  • Points earned on your anniversary date
  • Seat selection
  • Upgrade option for more legroom
  • Qualifying points towards A List
  • Flight discount promo code

All the cards include one FREE checked bag for you and up to 8 people on your reservation including your companion pass.  Which one is best for you? Depends on the benefits you will use and where you spend the most money, groceries, restaurants or gas stations.

This is a pretty great offer and better than the usual 50,000 bonus offer.

The catch here is that if you want to earn the Southwest Companion Pass, you will still need to apply for  a business credit card or earn the points through flying, booking hotels or just using the card for purchases. You earn the Southwest Companion Pass when you collect 135,000 Southwest points in a calendar year.

The Southwest Companion Pass is a BOGO on any flight anytime anywhere Southwest flies. Now that the airline is going to fly to Alaska and the Caribbean, it might save you a lot of money. I have had the companion pass for the past 8 years and it has saved my family thousands of dollars.

You can read here about how we time this process so you earn the pass for almost two entire years!

Southwest 120,000 Bonus Offer Ends Oct. 27th

Southwest Airlines 120,000 bonus offer ends Oct. 27th so don't wait! This offer gets you so close to earning the Southwest Companion pass. It's crazy!

If you follow my blog, you know that the Southwest Companion Pass is the most valuable travel perk out there. It is a BOGO pass on any Southwest flight for up to two years and you can change your companion up to three times per year. If you  were planning to earn the pass, you may have applied for the Southwest Personal Credit Card 100,000 bonus offer that ended recently.

And you are now slowly working towards your minimum spend since you have four months to do that instead of the usual three. So you strategically reach the minimum at just the right time to earn the companion pass for nearly two years.

And usually the second step in this plan is to apply for a Southwest Business Credit Card to reach the 135,000 points that you need in a single calendar year to earn the pass.
Whew! It's a lot of strategy and that's why I help people like you keep it all straight and on track.

With this new offer, if you do it right, you will end up with 235,000 Southwest points plus a BOGO companion pass good through December 2027. Wow!

Now if you were not eligible for the Southwest Personal Credit Card 100,000 bonus point offer, don't worry. This new offer includes almost enough points to earn the Southwest Companion pass on its own.

  • $10,000 minimum spend in 3 months
  • 120,000 bonus points
  • Offer ends 10/27/2025
  • $299 annual fee
The minimum spend is a bit hefty, but remember to use this card for all of your purchases for the next three months. It is a business credit card, but many businesses qualify, you can read about that here.

Just as an fyi, the Southwest Personal Credit Cards dropped back to their traditional offer of 50,000 bonus points for $1,000 minimum spend. Remember when you fly, you may have access to a better offer.

Why My New Fave Is Riding Amtrak

Recently I hopped on Amtrak from Washington DC to New York and wow, I was impressed. From start to finish, the process was easy, clear and affordable. Plus I could get some work done on the train.

The Amtrak website is very user friendly and I booked my ticket about a month before my travel date for just $38 one way. Trains ran frequently on that route even though I was traveling on a Thursday. After I purchased online, the system immediately sent me an email with my electronic ticket. In fact, the system followed up with a series of emails asking me if I would like to upgrade my ticket, reminding me that my trip was just a few days away, giving me helpful tips and finally giving me my gate information. So helpful.

At Union Station which was beautiful by the way and full of shops, restaurants and even a Starbucks, I easily found my gate. There was a staff member directing the crowd to line up. And 15 minutes before departure time, the staff member opened the doors and directed the crowd towards the train. There was another staff member closer to the train directing the crowd to the cars.

With my coach ticket, I was able to choose any seat in the front cars. I noticed there were some quiet cars, a cafe car and business class cars. Inside the car, the seats were plush, there were electrical outlets in each seat, luggage racks and most importantly, air conditioning.

The train left on time and arrived three hours later at Penn Station in New York City. Amtrak offers a rewards program and though I probably won't ride enough to rack up many points, it's always a good idea to join and take the rewards. Also  use your Capital One Venture X card to buy your Amtrak ticket and then erase it with points. Yay!

My FREE Gift To You: 1,000 Airline Miles

My Go-To Strategy for Affordable European Adventures ✈️

When it comes to crossing the Atlantic without breaking the bank, I keep coming back to Flying Blue, the loyalty program that powers both Air France and KLM. Here's why this program has become my secret weapon for European travel.

The Sweet Spot for Award Flights

Flying Blue offers some genuinely solid redemption rates:

  • Economy seats: 25,000 points one way (or just 18,750 during their regular promotions)
  • Business class with lie-flat seats: 50,000 points each way 🛏️

What really sets them apart? Both airlines include free stopovers in their hub cities (Paris for Air France, Amsterdam for KLM). This means you can essentially visit two destinations for the price of one award ticket.

A Recent Win That Made My Day

Earlier this year, I snagged a flight from Athens to Los Angeles for only 20,000 points plus $50 in taxes. The cherry on top? When I missed my connection in Paris due to delays, Air France stepped up big time – covering my hotel, meals, and even sending me an $800 compensation check. Sometimes travel hiccups work out better than expected! 🎉

Easy Ways to Earn Flying Blue Miles

The beauty of Flying Blue lies in its flexibility. You can transfer points from all the major credit card programs:

  • Chase Ultimate Rewards
  • Citi ThankYou Points
  • Capital One Miles
  • Bilt Rewards
  • American Express Membership Rewards

The New Player Worth Watching

Here's where things get interesting – Rove Miles just entered the scene as a shopping portal meets flexible points program. They've partnered with over 12,000 online merchants, letting you earn miles on everyday purchases that you can then transfer to Flying Blue and other airlines.

Their airline partners include Flying Blue, Finnair, Aeromexico, and Turkish Airlines, giving you plenty of redemption options.

Limited-Time Opportunity 🎯

I've got something special for you – 1,000 free Rove miles just for signing up (no purchase required). The signup process takes under a minute, and you can transfer those miles to Flying Blue if that's your preference once you have earned 2,000 Rove miles.

Important: This offer expires September 17th, so don't let it slip by if you're interested in building your points balance.

Alaska Airlines Brand New Loyalty Rewards Program

Big news today! Alaska Airlines is launching its new loyalty rewards program rebranded as Atmos Rewards.

Here's what we know so far and an amazing 100,000 bonus point offer:

  • Current Alaska loyalty members will keep their current loyalty account number. Hawaiian Air members who linked to their account to an Alaska loyalty account will keep their current number.
  • Atmos rewards are now points instead of miles
  • Ability to use Atmos rewards to book flights on 30 different airline partners including American, Iberia, British Airways, Japan Airlines and Finnair.
  • Ability to transfer Atmos rewards to 5 hotel brands including Marriott Bonvoy, IHG One Rewards, Wyndham Rewards, I Prefer Hotel Rewards and Shangri La Circle.
  • Three ways to earn points, you pick which one you prefer: distance, revenue or segment (you can change your preference once per year)

ATMOS REWARDS™ ASCENT VISA SIGNATURE® CARD
  • $95 annual fee
  • $4,000 minimum spend in 120 days
  • 80,000 bonus offer
  • Use points only to book on Alaska and Hawaiian Air
  • $99 companion certificate good on Alaska and Hawaiian air
  • free checked bag

  • $395 Annual Fee
  • $6,000 Minimum Spend in 90 days
  • 100,000 Point Bonus Offer
  • 25,000 Point Companion Certificate
  • Ability to use points to book on any partner airline
  • Global Companion certificate
  • 8 Alaska Air Lounge Passes
  • Free checked bag
  • Free onboard WIFI
  • $120 Global Entry credit

  • $70 Annual Fee
  • $5,000 minimum spend in 90 days
  • 80,000 Point Bonus Offer
  • $99 companion certificate good on Alaska and Hawaiian Air if you spend $6,000 on the card during the year
  • Free checked bag

My recommendation with these offers is to apply for the Summit Visa Infinite Credit Card because the points can be used on any partner airline which makes the points almost transferable.
Plus you get the Global Companion Certificate. Alaska Airlines points are usually very valuable and easy to use. Since the program is distance based, you can get some good deals.
It's exciting to see how this program develops and grows.
